5 Powerful Morning Rituals for People Who Hate Mornings.

I (Connie) am one of those annoying people who can literally jump out of bed, as soon as I open my eyes. But it wasn't always this way. How you start your morning, will determine how your day goes. Is it any surprise that when we start our mornings chaotic and stressed, that the rest of our day follows suit?

No, it's not.

Life doesn't happen to you, it is created by you. Let's change how we start our mornings, so we can experience better days. The quality of our lives is determined by how we spend each day. One crappy day is not the issue. The problem arises when we have crap days after crap days after crap days. Those crap days compound into a crappy life. I don't want that for you!

I get that many people hate the thought of waking up, getting out of a cozy, warm bed, and having to face a busy day full of (boring) things to do. But I'm here to help you shift your mindset, so you can experience better, more productive, and happier days. 

Life is so so good home skillet! I just want to help you see and experience that for yourself!

Your morning routine is KEY to having better days, so without further ado, let me share with you some of the morning rituals my clients have adopted to start shifting from "I hate mornings" to, "I'm so damn excited to get out of bed and live my life! And NOPE, it's not too good to be true. Believe me, it's possible! 

1.) Wake Up At The Same Time, Every Day 

Let's start with the basics. Waking up one day at 7am and the next at 9am isn't going to make mornings easy on yourself. If you CONSISTENTLY go to bed at the same time, and you CONSISTENTLY wake up at the same time soon, your body will reset its own internal alarm clock and you’ll no longer need to wake up to the sound of that annoying, heart-attack-inducing alarm clock. Consistency is the key to helping your body adapt and naturally and effortlessly start to wake up BEFORE the clock goes off. This gives you the opportunity to greet the day on your terms, instead of being brutally awaken and pissed off by your alarm clock.

Action Step- Determine what time in the morning you will wake up. Set that alarm. After a month of training your body you will no longer need that alarm.

2.) Move Your Body

Exercising first thing in the morning is going to put you in an awesome mood. When you FEEL good, you THINK good. You get that post-exercise high and this helps you be more positive and develop creative ideas. It helps you be open and in the flow of things. Your good mood enables you to deal with life events much more gracefully and effortlessly. Your choice of movement will put you in a state of awesomeness. When you FEEL good, you THINK good, then you DO good, and as a result, you LIVE great! See the ripple effect that exercising can have on you? I love starting my day with a morning walk. I pop on my earbuds, and off I go to listen to an audiobook or podcast. By the time I'm done with my walk, I feel so freaking fantastic! You will become ADDICTED to feeling fantastic, and that becomes a natural motivation to get moving daily. 

Action Step- What form of movement do you love? Is it yoga? Walking? The gym? What used to excite you, that you no longer do. Is it hikes? Skiing? Riding your bike? Pick a form of movement that feels good to you, and make it a part of your regular mornings.

3.) Write Out Three Things You Are Grateful For

When you give thanks for all that you have, your mind is fixated on the good in your life, on your abundance. This state of mind increases the energy of which you vibrate. We are all made up of energy. When you’re happy, you give off that happy vibe, when you’re pissed, even if you don’t tell anyone, they can just FEEL it coming off of you. You give off that vibe.

Same thing goes for gratitude. When you’re grateful you vibrate abundance and that helps draw even more abundance to you! For realskies! I didn’t make up the law of attraction, I just live it and preach it. 

You ever have those times when life sucks? It seems like EVERYTHING is going wrong, the bills keep coming in, things keep getting lost or broken and you’re constantly on edge wondering just what the hell else is going to go wrong??? When it rains, it pours my friend. And why does this happen? Because your mind is fixated on the sh*tstorm that is occurring instead of what you can do to move past it.

Instead of focusing on what is good in your life, your mind is focused on all that is wrong. This makes you vibrate at a low, crappy level and brings forth even more problems to you. The best way to quickly and effectively have an awesome day and life is to practice gratitude.

All the pros, influencers, best-selling authors, and the people you admire most, have a gratitude practice. There's a reason for that. It changes your life quickly! Gratitude works and it's an essential component to becoming a morning person. 

Action Step- Grab a journal and write out three (at least) things that you are grateful for. Any three things that fill you with gratitude: Your health, the fact that your kids slept all night, maybe you're grateful you did your workout, that you paid all your bills on time, that you have a roof over your head, a car to take you where you need to go, a family that loves you, etc. Find ANY three things and write them down.

4.) Write Out Goals & Visualize Them

Every year I set three big goals that I'd like to accomplish, and then throughout the year I take inspired (in-spirit) action that brings me closer and closer to those goals, until I inevitably achieve them. Every morning I write out my goals. As I write each one, I take a minute to visualize myself once I have achieved that specific goal. 

I imagine what it would FEEL like to accomplish my goal. What my life will be like once I do. What new things I can now do thanks to my accomplished goal. For that minute, I HAVE achieved my goal and am now experiencing the awesomeness that comes with this.
 
Why do I do this? Due to the overwhelm of life, all the hustle and bustle, and daily demands, it’s really easy to get off course and forget what you’re working towards. It’s really easy to get consumed with the minutia of everyday life and settle for less than you deserve. It’s really easy to become lost and unfulfilled and let time get away from you. But by writing out your goals every morning, they are kept right there, front and center, in your subconscious and conscious mind. You are reminded EVERY DAY of what you’re working towards, and the visualization process helps to motivate and excite you! 

It shows you just what awesomeness is waiting for you! It helps keep you motivated and inspired so whenever you do fall off the beaten path, or you want to hit the snooze button instead of getting to your morning routine, you can easily get back on track! Whenever life feels depressing and boring, or you're struggling to get out of bed, your goals and the visualization that goes with it, will help to remind you just how amazing your life can be! 

Action Step – Write out your goals and spend a minute visualizing each one of them. Really savor that minute and go deep. Really give it all your mental power and see yourself accomplishing that goal, feel the proudness, feel the accomplishment, feel the high that comes from achieving something you’ve worked hard for, something you’ve been really wanting. FEEL IT. The more you FEEL it, the higher your unique energy will vibrate and the faster that goal will become your reality.


4.) Mediate, Meditate, Meditate Some More.

"So many people ignore meditation and yet, it is a KEY step in manifesting like a TRUE MASTER! 

Buddha said it best: “Meditation brings wisdom; lack of meditation leaves ignorance. Know well what leads you forward and what hold you back, and choose the path that leads to wisdom.”

Being dependent on yourself only, and trying to live this life all by yourself…well, it’s really hard isn’t it? Life isn’t always rainbows and unicorns. Avocado toast and matcha lattes. It can be pretty dang hard sometimes. Meditation makes your life easier because it connects you to the part of you that came from your Creator. This is super important! This is how we can hear the little messages that our Highest Self/God/Universe is trying to give us. 

Through meditation, you develop and strengthen your relationship with your version of your Higher Power. You want this! By doing this, you can connect with It, and receive guidance and “downloads” that will CHANGE.YOUR.LIFE! 

You don’t have to know your purpose in life or how to make your dreams come true. You just have to be an open CHANNEL to receive the guidance on what to say, what to do, and where to go. This is called being “in-spirit” or inspiration. When you are this open channel, you will be inspired and guided on what kind of action to take, or where to go and so on.

The more you are consistent with your meditation practice, the more that little voice in your head becomes stronger and wiser, and you’ll go about your life feeling secure, feeling safe and feeling like you’re taken care of because you will no longer feel alone. Like you’re doing life by yourself and just hoping things work out. It’s an amazing and incredible feeling! Plus, life changes when you take inspired action. Instead of forcing shit to happen, you will be motivated and inspired and that action that you take, that you were guided to take from God, will CHANGE.YOUR.LIFE!"

Action Step- Start your mornings by sitting in a 10-minute meditation. There are all kinds of meditations out there. You're going to tell me that out of the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of meditations that exist, there isn't a single one that works for you? Hmm? Really? Bulls*it. You just haven't made the effort to find a style that you enjoy.  Make that effort now. It's worth it. The one I recommended in my other article is a mantra meditation. You sit in a 10-minute meditation while repeating the mantra “I welcome infinite possibilities and I’m open to receive.” This mantra helps align your energy with infinite possibilities and opens you up to receive your GOOD. This mantra helps you to feel good about all the possibilities that are available to you. You can use that mantra or any other one that best resonates with you. A mantra is just an affirmation you use to maintain your focus. They can be sentences, phrases, a single word, or even just a sound.
