How To Get Your Dream Hair. 3 Tips You Can Actually Steal From A Celebrity Colorist

In order to get the hair of your dreams there are 3 main steps that need to be followed. The first step in creating great hair is by creating dimension by simulating natural colors and movement. Step 2 is making sure the hair has all the correct undertones that are needed to be complimentary to the clients skin tone. Finally we have step 3, which may be the most important of all. Step 3 is the at home care/maintenance that the client has to upkeep when they are out of the salon. By following all 3 of these steps, great hair is the only option!

Step One: Create Dimensions By Simulating Natural Colors & Movement.

You may be wondering how to create natural looking dimension and I’ve got your answer! I created a color application technique that I call “midlights” that help mimic naturally occurring lightness that the sun creates on hair. I use Redken Chromatics in Clear to help get a subtle but beautiful lift that gives an amazing glow to the hair. I also use Redken’s ShadesEQ Cream and Flash Lift Bonder Inside to create highlights and lowlights to make sure there are pops of brightness and shades of darker tones to create depth. By using 3 different formulas to have highlights, midlights, and lowlights you can create the most natural looking and beautiful hair color!

Step Two: Correct Undertones That Compliment Skin Tone.

The next step in the process is making sure the hair has the correct undertone that suits the clients skin tone. I analyze the natural hair color the client has and I create a cocktail of all the Redken ShadesEQ Glosses and create the perfect concoction that will help emphasize all the amazing tones of the hair I want to pop. Step Three: Proper At Home Care/Maintenance.

The final step which really is just the cherry on top, is at home care.

In order to keep the blondes beautiful and vibrant I suggest using Redken’s Acidic Bonding Concentrate in order to help balance out the high alkalinity of our shower water.
