Create The Perfect Mood For Your Cinco de Mayo Celebration

by MoodMe

According to our friends over at

"Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May, is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army’s May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. The day, which falls on Wednesday, May 5 in 2021, is also known as Battle of Puebla Day. While it is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations."

In America, 59% of Americans eat Mexican food to celebrate this glorious day, and 32% drink margaritas! So to help you join in on the fun, we have set the mood for a perfect celebration, any day of the week, with our approved recipes and founder-favorite margaritas!

Set The Mood With Drinks!

MoodMe founder, Autumn Calabrese, has shared with us her FAVORITE margarita recipe! Start your celebration and help everyone get in the mood for fun by mixing up a batch of these founder approved margaritas!

The Recipe

2 oz fresh orange juice
2 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 tsp raw honey
1.5 oz tequila blanco (Casa Amigos is my favorite)
1 cup ice

Mix all ingredients together in a shaker cup ( I like to muddle 2 orange wedges and 2 lime wedges in mine)

Pour over cup of ice, top with sparkling water & garnish with a lime wedge. If you like a salted rim, only do half instead of the full rim to avoid too much salt. Cheers!

Set The Mood With Food

A Cinco de Mayo celebration ALWAYS includes food. And to help celebrate this commemoration, we have picked a few of our favorite Cinco de Mayo recipes from Ahead of Thyme that you can easily make for ANY gathering.

2. Chicken Enchiladas

3. Shrimp Taco Salad

4. Beef & Bean Burritos

5. Sheet Pan Chicken Fajitas
